About

What’s This Show About?

WYRD 101 is a series of up and coming podcasts. Topics on the shows touch on everything and anything, from soup to nuts, pop culture to food, technology to social interactions, and politics. The shows are hosted by a close group of friends, and the citizens of the quasi-fictional, almost real town of Pungo, Virginia.

If there is one thing we’re not, it’s politically correct. One of the main tenets of this website, and the kind of things we do here is that “Nothing Is Sacred”, by which we mean that we reject the attitude that it’s perfectly alright to laugh at another’s sacred cow, but to cry foul when your own is being hefted onto the grille. While we reserve the right to point and laugh at you and your beliefs, the shows are meant to be entertaining and thought provoking. We’re charter members of the Equal Opportunity Offenders Society around here.

The show has grown from a small two tape deck cassette in the bedroom of one guy back in 1988, to a terrestrial radio show in the early 1990’s. We’ve been on the web in one form or another since 1995, and we have a very loyal core group of listeners who have followed us from the olden days of GeoCities to here.

Shows are sometimes pre-recorded, and sometimes broadcast live. All shows are available as downloads in MP3 format, and are also available to be automatically downloaded to your computer or portable audio player via iTunes or any other podcast software.

What is podcasting?
Wikipedia says that “podcasting allows individuals to have a self-published, syndicated radio show.” Podcasting can also be thought of as casual content creation. The simplicity of podcasting allows almost anyone to have a voice – from individuals to corporations. Let’s be honest, though: After you subscribe to us, you’re not going to need anything else. In fact, don’t even bother looking. Seriously. There are a lot of bad podcasts out there. REALLY bad. The kind of bad that makes your ears bleed, your spine curve, and put the terrorists in a position to win. Just sayin’.

Do I need an iPod?
No. In fact, you don’t even need an MP3 player at all. You can listen with your computer. But if you have an iPod or similar device, you can listen on-the-go.
